Boyne Fishermen's Rescue emergency paging system activated at 21:40pm last night.
Crews paged to the reports of a person river side of the railings on the Haymarket bridge in Drogheda.
Luckily our mobile 3 unit which had turned onto the bridge noticed the incident unfolding and immediately stopped to assist.
The casualty was been held by members of the public to prevent entry. Thankfully with the combined efforts of crew and members of the public we managed to safely remove the casualty from the water side of the railings.
Our inshore rescue boat which swiftly made its way up river and held off just underneath the bridge in the event of an entry.
A team of rescue swimmers from our on scene crew where suited and ready for a swift entry to secure the casualty.
While our scene crews assisted by Drogheda gardai managed to maintain a stable situation with the casualty after an additional entry attempt was made.
Following a short period of negotiations with crews trained in mental health and suicide prevention the casualty was handed over to Drogheda Gardai.
Crews returned to base to wash ,restage and sanitize equipment in the event of another tasking.
