Call-out 10/10/2020 54/20
This afternoon at 15.38hrs the Boyne Fishermen's Rescue and Recovery Service emergency paging system was activated requesting the teams assistance with a person in the water in the Townley Hall area.
We dispatched our inshore rescue boat and mobile unit to the scene ,while our tender rescue unit was also mobilized.
Our underwater search unit was also paged to be on standby if needed.
An incident update on the way we received a location update of the salmon traps area ,where a male had entered the water to rescue his dog but got stranded on a centre island of the river.
Our mobile unit arrived minutes later crewed by members of our Swift Water Rescue team who are trained to enter the water and rescue the casualty in rapids,were access is limited.
On arrival crews met with Drogheda Gardai ,National Ambulance Service and Drogheda Coast Guard where the tender boat from the Drogheda Coast Guard unit was in the process of retrieving both the male and dog back to land.
Crew were stood down returning to base to wash , sanitize and restage equipment in the event of another tasking.
