* Person In Distress*
Boyne Fishermen's Rescue emergency paging system activated at 18:39pm yesterday evening.
Crews paged to the reports of a person in distress / threatening to enter the water at the North Quay area in Drogheda.
A number of crew had been onsite in the boathouse for a group visit ,allowing the inshore rescue boat to be launched and make its way to the incident.
Our mobile 1 unit and crew arrived swiftly and luckily members of the public had engaged with person to prevent entry.
A crew trained In suicide prevention managed to maintain a stable situation while the inshore rescue boat held off. A rescue swimmer had been on standby on the steps ready to enter in the event of an entry.
With an entry prevented the casualty was safely handed over to Drogheda Gardai who where on scene.
Crews returned to base to wash ,restage and sanitize equipment in the event of another tasking.
