Call-out 21-01-2023 01/23
Shortly before 00.30hrs this morning the western division of the Boyne Fishermen's Rescue and Recovery Service recieved a call for assistance.
The call was to alert and request assistance from the team to a car which had just entered the water in Castlebar co.mayo and it was unknown if the car was occupied at the time.
The Underwater Search Unit mustered and arrived on scene a short time later where dive operations began.
The crew secured then vehicle with rigging to stop it moving and the extraction of the vehicle began.
The Boyne Fishermen's Rescue wish to extend their deepest sympathy and condolences to the deceased.
Crews then return back to the western division base where the gear was cleaned and restaged ready for first light this morning.
