****Body Recovery****
 
At 16.23hrs the Boyne Fishermen's Rescue and Recovery Service emergency paging system was activated to the reports of a person in difficulty in the water at Townley Hall area of the River Boyne.
 
We immediately dispatched our inshore rescue boat and scene crew to the location of the incident.
 
Within minutes our mobile unit arrived on scene ,a quick assessment / update of the incident reported that the person had became fully submerged underneath the water.

 

2 Rescue swimmers where deployed on a tendered line to the area to search while our inshore rescue boat arrived on scene.
 
We immediately tasked our underwater search unit ,who swiftly assembled and responded to the area with dive equipment, personnel and a second vessel.
 
Our tender rescue unit was also mobilized to the scene with additional crew who then formed a line and undertook a search line of the area.
 
We were joined by the Drogheda Coast Guard unit who commenced search operations and also tasked Rescue 116 to conduct a search.
 
The dive unit arrived swiftly on scene ,the river was made sterile for safety reasons and dive operations commenced immediately.
 
After a short dive ,the divers from the underwater search unit of the Boyne Fishermen's Rescue and Recovery Service recovered a body from the water.
 
The dive boat approached the designated access point. Team work and Co-ordination between the Boyne Fishermen's Rescue and Drogheda Coast Guard unit working together transferred the casualty safely to the nominated area to hand over to the National Ambulance Service.
 
The Boyne Fishermen's Rescue and Recovery Service wish to extend their deepest sympathy and condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
 
In a very tragic accident which occured communication, Co-ordination and team work from multiple agencies involved insured a professional,fast and efficient outcome for returning the loved one to their family.
 
Crews were stood down returning to base to wash,restage and fuel the equipment.
 
On scene also Drogheda Gardai , National Ambulance Service ,Garda Armed Support Unit, Drogheda Coast Guard unit, Rescue 116 and Townleys Undertakers.
