Boyne Fishermen's Rescue emergency paging system activated at 21:51pm last night.
Crews paged to reports of a person in a distress state and it was feared they may attempt to enter the water from the Drogheda Port / Fiddler Case Pier area in Drogheda.
Our inshore rescue boat was launched with a crew on board and swiftly made its way up river to the incident which was unfolding.
Our mobile 1 & 3 unit crewed with a skill range of Rescue Swimmers, First Aid and Mental Health First Aid was dispatched to the scene.
Following a search of the area alongside Drogheda Gardai resulting in the successfully location of the person matching the description.
The casualty was located on a wall at the rivers edge within the Drogheda Port Facilities which had been closed due to the time of night.
Following the arrival of the inshore rescue boat and access limitations, a crew from the on scene team joined the inshore rescue boat and it was agreed to safely extract the casualty from the area via water.
The casualty was transferred to the inshore rescue boat and directed to the medical room in the Boyne Fishermen's Rescue boathouse where casualty care was provided by crew until the arrival of National Ambulance Service.
Crews returned to base, restaged and sanitize equipment in the event of another tasking.
